Aston Villa 3 Luton Town 1

Fans are loving life with Unai Emery at the helm and are hoping for magical things to happen under the Spanish manager this season. With Luton Town the visitors to Villa Park this weekend, the home faithful were hoping for another convincing win.

Villa started on the front foot as Diaby began causing problems, finding Watkins in the box who teed up Zaniola. His shot narrowly missed the top corner of the goal but immediately got the fans off their seats and Villa Park became a cauldron of noise.

Cash was getting forward whenever he could and found Watkins at the back post but as the England striker looked destined to score, Kaminski made a world-class save to keep the ball out and his side level.

The home fans did not have to wait long for a goal as McGinn received the ball on the edge of the box, dummied a shot before turning into the box and drilled it into the far corner. It was a great goal by the Scottish midfielder.

Digne played a teasing ball across the six yard box but nobody could get a telling touch. Watkins managed to retrieve it and found Zaniola at the near post but Kamisnki made yet another save to deny the Italian a goal. He reacted like he had himself to score anytime with the bookies.

Luton then came forward for the first time in the game but as Ogbene looked to drill the ball across the six yard box, Martinez did well to gather the ball. It had taken all of 27 minutes for the visitors to force the Villa keeper into any sort of a save.

As the second-half got underway, it did not take the hosts long to double their lead as Digne whipped another cross in but as two players challenged for the ball it dropped into the middle of the box. Diaby was the first there and smashed the ball home.

Moussa Diaby was causing all sorts of problems for Luton Town and as another ball was played into the attacker, his shot was carried over the line by the unfortunate Tom Lockyer. Diaby then fed Bailey, with the chance to make it four-nil, but he dragged his shot wide.

The Hatters struggled to cope with Aston Villa all afternoon but the hosts were feeling in a very giving mood. As a cross was swung in, under no pressure, Konsa headed towards his own goal. The ball struck the bar, hit the back of Martinez and went in the back of the net. What a gift, especially with Christmas still months away.

It was a convincing win for Aston Villa who made it twelve wins in a row at home. They have scored at least three goals in all of their games at Villa Park in the Premier League this season, giving their fans full entertainment value. Luton Town continue to try and find their feet in the top-flight and manager Rob Edwards will be hoping they can change their fortunes soon.
