Brighton 0 Wolves 0

Roberto De Zerbi’s side welcomed Wolves to the Amex Stadium, looking to go above Man Utd and up into seventh place in the table. For the visitors, they had the chance to move level on points with The Seagulls with victory.

The hosts came close to opening the scoring as a corner was flicked on at the near post, Van Hecke met it with a header but his effort was cleared off the line by Doyle. So close to opening the scoring but the defender could not get a decent enough connection to score.

Wolves broke on the counter-attack and opened Brighton up with their incisive passing game. Fit again Pedro Neto picked the ball up and cut inside before firing off a shot which had the Brighton keeper beaten. Sadly for the visitors his shot narrowly missed the far post.

Both sides struggled to create opportunities in what was a very evenly matched game. Since Gary O’Neil had taken the helm at Molineux he has imprinted his vision on this team and they play a neat passing game much like their opponents.

Neto continued causing problems for the hosts in the second half, looking like he has picked up where he left off before being struck down with an injury. He cut inside from the right, stretching the Brighton defence before picking out Cunha in the box.

The Brazilian’s first shot was well saved by Steele in the Brighton goal but he could only parry the ball straight back to the Wolves’ player. Incredibly, he skied his next effort over the bar when it seemed easier to score with the keeper still on the floor.

James Milner was continuing to pull the strings for Brighton, rolling back the years, not looking like the veteran player he is today. Credit where it is due to the former Liverpool player, the 38-year-old keeps himself at some level of fitness.

He played the ball into Danny Welbeck, who laid it off to Joao Pedro who steamed into the box but just as he looked to get a shot away it was well blocked by Nelson Semedo. The ball looped into the air for Jose Sa to gather.

Hinshelwood then got down the right wing and looked to cross into the box but it was cut out by Kilman, although his block saw the ball come back off the post with Sa beaten. Wolves managed to scramble the ball away for a corner.

The Seagulls had learned nothing in this game and Neto continued to cause problems. Sarabia fed him in down the right once again and he strode towards the box, feigning a cross before trying to beat Steele at his near post. The Brighton keeper managed to block the effort to deny him.

Milner was struggling to cope with Neto and some neat build up play saw the ball slotted in behind the Brighton player once again for the Wolves’ attacker. Only Pedro Neto will know whether it was a cross or a shot but either way it flashed across the hosts’ goal with no one able to convert it.

Wolves were starting to dominate in the final third and Cunha played in Lemina who had a clear sight of goal. He had nothing on his mind but scoring but once again Steele was equal to it as he blocked and kept his side in this game late on.

The points were shared, which was probably a fair result, but Brighton had their goalkeeper to thank for that. Gary O’Neil’s side created lots of chances with only Steele able to deny them the goals they needed to take all three points.
