Burnley 0 Man Utd 1

Vincent Kompany’s side welcomed Man Utd to Turf Moor, still looking for their first win of the season. United have been struggling for any sort of form, much to the displeasure of their fans who have decided their owners are to blame.

Rashford made a run down the left wing, beating his marker, before feeding it into the path of Bruno Fernandes whose left-footed shot was beaten away by James Trafford. An early glimpse of goal for the visitors.

Roberts got forward for the hosts and managed to pick out Amdouni who headed into the bottom corner well but much maligned keeper Andre Onana got down well to tip the effort around the post to keep the scores level.

Ramsey was the next person to set up the Burnley striker who took one touch before shooting, only to see his effort ricochet off the post and come back out into play having beaten the Man Utd keeper on this occasion.

As Man Utd got into the game more, they swung in a corner which was headed home by veteran defender Jonny Evans. Sadly the goal was ruled out as McTominay was adjudged to be offside and impeding the keeper’s sight. That would have been Evans' first goal since the industrial revolution.

Koleosho went on a weaving run, beating defender after defender before finally being brought down on the edge of the box. The referee waved play on which was mind-bending once you saw the replay as not only did Casemiro bring down the player with his sliding challenge but even took out his own player in the process.

Evans than decided to go direct with a pass and found Bruno Fernandes in a wide position in the box and the Man Utd captain struck the ball on the volley, beating Trafford in the Burnley goal, with his effort nestling in the bottom corner. Great strike.

In the second half, United continued to probe the Burnley defence with McTominay holding the ball up before laying it off to Hannibal. He found Dalot in a wide position who whipped in a brilliant fizzing cross along the six yard box but Hojlund could not apply the required touch.

The Clarets began to create some half-chances as the game went on and when a corner found Onana in no man’s land, Berge tried to meet it with his head but it struck his shoulder and went well over the crossbar.

Burnley then clipped a ball over the top of the visitor’s defence with Jay Rodriguez getting on the end of it but as he looked to get a shot away, Raphael Varane came across to block the effort at the expense of a corner.

Vincent Kompany’s side huffed and puffed but could not find an equaliser. The Belgian manager will be pleased that his side were far more competitive in this game as prior to this they had seemed so far out of their depth in the Premier League, many expected the lifeguards to get involved.

Erik ten Hag’s side took all three points and much to the joy of the Glazer family, they have a weekend without having to listen to a Gary Neville sermon on why the owners are the root of all evil at Old Trafford.
