Burnley 1 Nott'm Forest 2
Vincent Kompany’s side had failed in their push to secure Premier League safety. They welcomed Nott’m Forest to Turf Moor who were all but safe despite their points deduction. Home form had been a huge contributory factor in The Clarets relegation this season.
It was all a case of déjà vu for Burnley as Elanga whipped a ball into the box which was drilled home by Wood at the back post. Any hope the home fans had of finishing their season with a win had quickly evaporated in under two minutes.
Chris Wood used to play for The Clarets, now he must wish he could play against them every week. The marking was non-existent. Gibbs-White squared the ball to Yates who shot from the edge of the box, Wood diverted it with a neat touch and it went into the bottom corner of the goal.
The linesman immediately raised his flag to disallow the effort for offside. VAR took some time to review it before deciding that the Forest front man was in an onside position. The away fans celebrated as they sealed their Premier League status for another season.

A long ball forward found Bruun Larsen, who did well to pick out Amdouni in the box. He skied his shot into the stands when he really should have got his side back into this game. Scoring goals has been a constant problem for The Clarets this season.
Craig Bellamy is assistant to Vincent Kompany at Burnley. You wonder whether he would still get a game for this side up front. The Clarets play some nice football to create plenty of chances but have just proved all too wasteful in front of goal.
Into the second half and Nott’m Forest were growing in confidence. They looked capable of scoring every time they came forward. Gibbs-White tried a shot from outside the box but Muric made an acrobatic stop to deny him.
Finally Burley had a break of good luck as Cullen shot from some distance. His effort took a massive deflection off Murillo and wrong-footed Sels as it headed into the back of the net. It gave the home fans some hope that they could get something out of this game.
The Clarets continued to throw players forward and as Brownhill laid it off to Odobert on the edge of the box, he looked to bend one in the far corner. He got his shot all wrong as it sailed wide of the target, summing up their form in front of goal this season.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side held on for all three points to end what has been a challenging season in positive fashion. Burnley’s short stay in the Premier League was over but they now know what it takes to survive in the top-flight.

The three sides who came up from the Championship had gone straight back down this season, further underpinning the gulf between the two leagues. Nott’m Forest had survived with the lowest points total in the history of the Premier League.
