Chelsea 0 Brentford 2
When Mauricio Pochettino agreed to join Chelsea, their fans thought the good times were coming back to Stamford Bridge. So far, it has seemed like Frank Lampard was still at the helm as they welcomed Brentford for a West London derby.
Since Todd Boehly arrived at the club, they have spent more money than the Conservative government have on their oversized train sets, looking to rekindle their childhood at the UK taxpayers’ expense. Fortunately at Chelsea, the American is footing the bill.
The visitors called Sanchez into action as Mbuemo looked to cross from the byline but The Blues keeper was equal to it. Pochettino’s side went straight down the other end and Madueke cut inside onto his left foot, looking to bend one in, only to see his effort rattle the woodwork.
Chelsea were dominating possession and Cole Palmer spotted the run of Marc Cucurella but the former Brighton man could only find the Brentford keeper with a tame effort when he had the entire goal to aim for.

Palmer was then to work the ball to Sterling but the pint-sized winger could only smash his effort into the stands at Stamford Bridge as the side continued leave their fans in disbelief. It was proving to be another frustrating day in West London.
Brentford had their first shot in anger in the second half when Janelt met a cross with venom but his shot seemed to hit the Chelsea keeper more than it looked like he had pulled off a stunning save. This gave the visitors some confidence.
Soon after, Mbuemo dinked in a cross from the byline, which was met with a thunderous header by Pinnock with the ball in the back of the net before the Chelsea keeper had even thought about reacting to the header.
Pochettino made four substitutions to try and change his side’s luck but for all the money they have spent, they are severely lacking any creativity on their bench. The additions were certainly not going to strike fear into many teams.
Reece James then crossed into the box and two Chelsea players had swipes at the ball but neither could find a telling touch to give Flekken anything to do. Pochettino’s assistant, Jesus Perez, was then shown a red card by the referee to compound the side’s miserable afternoon.
Brentford then broke from a Chelsea corner and had four players against the two of Chelsea but Sanchez spread himself well to block the shot and keep his side in this game. The game was now heading into added time as the hosts forced a corner.

The Bees headed clear and with Sanchez having come up for the corner, the visitors broke as the keeper tried to get back in his goal but Maupay laid the ball off to Mbuemo to slot into an empty Chelsea goal.
Thomas Frank’s side left with all three points and Mauricio Pochettino’s future in West London was starting to look darker than his hair. If only some of his players were to show more of a ‘do or dye’ attitude.
