Fulham 1 Luton Town 0

Marco Silva’s side welcomed winless Luton Town to Craven Cottage, hoping to get their first win since the opening day of the season. The Hatters were finding it tough to find their feet in the Premier League and were desperate for that first win.

Kabore was struggling with the skilful Willian and chopped him down as he turned neatly inside. As Pereira whipped it in, Luton broke and found Chong but there was no one else in an orange shirt with him when he got into the Fulham final third. He got a shot away from a tight angle but it was all too easy for Leno.

As The Cottagers came forward once again, Tete whipped a dangerous ball in that Kabore felt he had to put behind at the expense of a corner. It was Kenny Tete who met the resulting corner but could not keep his header below the crossbar.

Issa Kabore then showed he is as much of a threat going forward as he is at the back as his cross found Foster on the back post. He headed it across goal and got it straight back as Diop failed to clear but the Luton striker volleyed well wide. Big chance.

In almost a carbon copy of the previous attack it was Jacob Brown who had a completely free header six yards out but could only head it against the woodwork. What a massive chance for the visitors. One they could rue missing.

Luton Town started the second half in positive fashion as Brown crossed the ball to find an unmarked Bell on the back post but could only volley into the arms of Leno, when there was far more empty goal to aim at.

You don’t have to be J.K.Rowling to predict how this story was to play out. Fulham came forward with Willian, his low cross was spilled by the keeper and Vinicius slotted the ball home. What do chances win?

The Hatters tried to come forward to get a goal that may earn a point Rob Edwards will have felt his side more than deserved. Kabore continued to show his crossing abilities as he picked out Lockyer unmarked on the edge of the six yard box. Sadly, he could only get a glancing touch that took it out to the other wing.

Fulham took all three points, then came the most interesting part of their games currently. The mental unravelling of manager Marco Silva. In the post-match interview he began ranting how his team had done more to win the game, deserved to win the game and had the most shots. It was like he was trying to defend himself in a police interview about his whereabouts at the time and date a murder happened to someone he had beef with.

In truth, Luton had done more than enough to win this game but looked clueless in front of goal. They are seriously lacking a striker capable of scoring regularly at this level. It is a different beast to The Championship.
