Luton Town 1 Burnley 2
Two newly promoted sides met at Kenilworth Road in a game that had been rearranged as some work was going on with the terraced housing that forms part of the stands. After their weekend win at Goodison Park, Rob Edwards’ side went into this match full of confidence.
Burnley created the first chance of the game when a corner was swung in and met by the head of Amdouni but Kaminski was equal to it as he tipped it over the crossbar. The Clarets continued to pressure and Brownhill struck one from outside the box, just dipping over the bar.
Berge then threaded a pass through the middle to Foster who ran through on goal and slotted the ball past the Luton keeper to give the visitors the lead. Vincent Kompany will have been overjoyed to head in at the break leading as they had prevented the hosts from creating anything of note.
Edwards obviously read the riot act to his players during the break as The Hatters started the second half on the front foot. As a ball was swung into the back post it was met by the head of Brown. While he had beaten Trafford with his effort, Cullen got back to head it off the line.

Foster was causing problems and as he looked to cut onto his left foot, a heavy challenge took him down but while all the Luton players felt it was a penalty the referee was not interested. The replay showed that the defender seemed to have got the slightest touch to the ball but there was no way VAR was going to overrule the on-field decision, that’s not how the mafia operate.
After all their pressure, Luton Town finally got their equaliser when Adebayo received the ball with his back to goal and spun brilliantly to slot the ball into the back of the net. Kenilworth Road erupted as it seemed they had managed to grab a point from the jaws of defeat.
Sadly for the home fans, this euphoria lasted all of sixty seconds as Bruun Larsen received the ball on the right hand side of the box. He cut inside onto his left foot and hit a stunning strike past Kaminski as it arrowed into the top corner.
The Clarets managed to hold on and take all three points as Vincent Kompany’s side won their first game of the Premier League campaign to really shake things up at the bottom of the table. It has been a week of highs and lows for Luton however, having got an unlikely victory at Everton on Saturday only to be beaten by a relegation rival at home three days later.
