Nottm Forest 1 Burnley 1
Steve Cooper’s side welcomed Burnley to the City Ground in a repeat of a second round EFL Cup game from the first week of the season. This game was Vincent Kompany’s side's only win of the season and would give them confidence for this league match.
Nottingham Forest were looking to add to their two wins so far this season, after they impressively came away with all three points when they travelled to Stamford Bridge to face Mauricio Pochettino’s misfiring Chelsea side.
The hosts created the first chance of the game when in-form Awoniyi spotted Hudson-Odoi in space and slipped the ball into the former-Chelsea man but his effort in the bottom corner was saved by England U-21 keeper Trafford.
Burnley then offered their first attack of the game when Amdouni received the ball in the centre of the pitch and let fly from outside the box. He struck it well, with the ball heading into the bottom corner but Matt Turner got down well to make an impressive save.

Koleosho then got away down the left wing and beat Worrall for pace to get to the byline, his cross deflected to the edge of the box where Amdouni repeated his heroics of their league cup encounter to put The Clarets one-nil up with a great left-footed strike.
In the second half, Hudson-Odoi picked the ball up on the corner of the penalty area, dropped his shoulder and cut inside, before letting fly with a shot that fizzed into the far corner. The ball struck the inside of the post on its way in, giving James Trafford no chance of saving it.
Berge then managed to get in behind the Forest back line, chesting the ball in front of him before cutting it back to Foster to slot home to put the visitors back in the lead. Or so they thought. VAR reviewed the goal and adjudged Berge to have deliberately handled the ball as he tried to control it on his chest.
It was an incredible decision as watching the replays, from all different angles, it was hard to see what the officials in the VAR room were seeing. Maybe it only works if you are taking the same cocktail of prescribed medication that they are on. Burnley were right to feel hard done by.
The night was to go from bad to worse for Vincent Kompany. His side came forward again, looking for a winner they felt they had already scored. As Forest managed to finally hack the ball clear, a defender fell to the ground.
VAR informed the referee to go and look at the monitor. The replay showed that Foster had thrown an elbow into his chest as he tried to shrug the player off. Like he was playing a game of charades, the official let the ground know it was a TV programme and produced a red card.
Burnley’s striker had scored three goals in his last three games and now he would be suspended for the same length of time. This will hurt Burnley but the player only has himself to blame. The points were shared, The Clarets are still without a win this season, while Forest moved up to eighth in the Premier League table.
