Wolves 1 Crystal Palace 3

Gary O’Neil’s side welcomed an in-form Crystal Palace to Molineux. The same could not be said of Wolves who have really gone off the boil in the last couple of months. Oliver Glasner was able to start both Eze and Olise in his team, which usually leads to three points.

Mateta did well down the left and picked out Olise at the far post. The young Frenchman dragged his shot well wide of the far post. It was a big chance for the visitors and a rare miss from the impressive winger who is attracting a lot of attention from the big clubs.

He soon made up for that miss as he picked the ball up on the edge of the box. Olise cut inside onto his left foot and bent his shot past Bentley and into the far corner of the goal. You can see why he is such hot property at the moment.

Two minutes later the visitors had doubled their lead. Olise found Clyne in the box, whose shot struck the inside of the post. It dropped to Mateta, with an empty goal to tap the ball into. It was starting to look like a long afternoon for the home fans.

They almost found a way back into the game when Ait-Nouri swung a teasing ball into the box. Doherty rose at the back post to head it, only to see his effort rebound back into play off the crossbar. So close to a goal for the hosts.

O’Neil’s side thought they had made the perfect start to the second half as Hwang played the ball into the path of Cunha. He smashed the ball home but it was immediately ruled out for offside. After a lengthy delay for a VAR review, the goal was awarded, much to the delight of the home fans.

Wolves grew in confidence and as the ball was played across the six yard box, Clyne missed his clearance but fortunately for the defender, so did Hwang at the back post. It was a huge chance for the hosts to draw level and one which will no doubt haunt the striker’s dreams for a while.

They paid the ultimate price as Eze played the ball in behind the defence for Olise to run onto. He took the ball around Bentley and slotted into the back of the net to restore their two goal lead. Crystal Palace really need to try and hold onto this pair.

Sarabia almost got a goal back but Henderson made a good save to turn it behind for a corner. As the ball came in, Semedo met it on the volley but the Palace keeper made a brilliant stop to turn it over the crossbar to protect the visitors’ lead.

Late in the game Ahamada was penalised for a foul on Cunha and the referee pointed to the spot. To make matters worse, it was his second yellow card and he was given his marching orders. Fortunately for Palace, VAR reviewed the decision and decided it was outside the box so no penalty was given.

The Eagles held on with ten men for the three points. It took them into twelfth place on 46 points, their highest ever return in the Premier League. With one game remaining in the season, Glasner’s side can further improve on that. For Wolves, they will be glad to see the campaign end now.
