Wolves 1 Nottingham Forest 1

Wolves welcomed Nottingham Forest to Molyneux with manager Steve Cooper under pressure after four defeats on the trot. There was no doubt the fans were behind the Forest manager but owners can often be very different beasts.

The visitors started the game with a high-tempo, pressing high up the pitch. They dispossessed the hosts and Neco Williams delivered from out wide for Harry Toffolo to head home and put Forest in front with only 14 minutes on the clock.

It was the perfect start for Steve Cooper’s side as they tried to prove their quality and get the result, they so craved. The goal shocked the Wolves’ fans as Molyneux fell deathly silent apart from the travelling fans in the away end.

Gary O’Neil’s side are never going to lay down for anyone and immediately looked to find a response. The in-form Hwang was causing problems in the Forest box and as the visitors struggled to clear he headed wide when he should have done better.

Wolves are playing some good football under their new manager and if it wasn’t for dodgy VAR decisions, would have a lot more points to show for it. Sarabia made a good run into the box, got to the byline and cut it back to Cunha to slot home.

It was no more than the hosts had deserved. Since the goal they had grown into this game and started to dominate. Their neat passing and interplay is enough to open up the best of sides and Forest struggled to deal with their attacking play.

Kilman was robbed of the ball late in the first half, not realising what players were around him and Kouyate ran towards goal. With only Jose Sa to beat, it was a disappointing effort from the Forest man as the Wolves keeper saved with his outstretched legs.

Whatever Steve Cooper said to his side at half-time seemed to work as they came straight out of the traps in the second half. They immediately came forward and forced a corner. Wolves only half cleared the set piece and as the ball came back in, Elanga thundered the ball against the bar.

From only six yards out, the former Man Utd winger will feel he should have done better. His blushes were saved when the assistant referee raised his flag for offside but it was a tight call. Had he scored, the VAR room would have had some work to do.

Neco Williams then produced another moment of pure quality as he whipped a cross into the box from a wide position, to put it on a plate for Toffolo again. Having scored his first Forest goal earlier in the game, he seemed destined to double his tally.

Somehow, from only two yards out, the Forest midfielder headed the ball over the crossbar. Steve Cooper could not believe it as he held his head in his hands. He thought that was the moment his side were going to get their much-needed win.

Wolves had the chance to provide the ultimate sucker-punch as Forest gave the ball away in defence. Hwang found Cunha, who cut inside and got a shot away with his left foot which was parried out by Turner. It rebounded to the Brazilian who shot again, only to see it blocked by a defender.

The points were shared but the Forest manager will have felt they created more than enough opportunities to head back home with all three points. If they are not careful, they could be sucked into a relegation dogfight, with the sides below them picking up wins.
